Thematic Report on Viral Hepatitis (Population Health Survey 2020-22)

The Population Health Survey (PHS) 2020-22 is the third territory-wide Population Health Survey conducted by the Department of Health. Survey questions and tests about viral hepatitis were first included in the survey to assess the viral hepatitis status of the Hong Kong population, by a household survey and health examination.

The PHS 2020-22 estimated the prevalence of hepatitis A, B, C and E among land-based non-institutional population aged 15 – 84 in Hong Kong, excluding foreign domestic helpers and visitors. For individuals with chronic hepatitis B and C, the disease activity was evaluated. The survey also assessed the linkage to care, as well as diagnosis and treatment coverage, of chronic hepatitis B and C.
