Hong Kong Viral Hepatitis Action Plan 2025 - 2030
The Government launched the Hong Kong Viral Hepatitis Action Plan 2025 – 2030 in December 2025.
- The second blueprint in Hong Kong to further alleviate the public health burden posed by viral hepatitis
- Building on the progress made under the first action plan to carry forward the momentum for prevention and control of viral hepatitis
- Setting out strategies and priority actions to further reduce the transmission of viral hepatitis, as well as related morbidity and mortality, especially liver cancer
- With the goal to eliminate viral hepatitis as a public health threat in Hong Kong
The Action Plan formulates priority actions for four strategic axes.
Through the implementation of various actions in the Action Plan, Hong Kong sets to progress towards the goal outlined by the World Health Organization (WHO) by 2030:
- 90% people living hepatitis B or C diagnosed
- 80% eligible people living with hepatitis B or C treated
- Number of new hepatitis B infections per year: ≤ 2 per 100 000 population
- Number of new hepatitis C infections per year: ≤ 5 per 100 000 population
- Number of deaths from viral hepatitis per year: ≤ 6 per 100 000 population
